Sports Tasters and Athletics Training

Posted on Sun, 15 Sep 2013 09:34 by Matthew Snell

Following on from the fantastic Sheffield Games, we will be holding three sessions throughout the forthcoming year for those wishing to improve techniques, times and distances in preparation for Bolton 2014 and, of course, to offer a chance for a get-together.

Your child will have use of both indoor and outdoor facilities which are fantastic and all for only £3 for the entire length of their stay. We thought that lunch would be great as a picnic, so if you could bring your own lunch and something to sit on that would be much appreciated.

It is envisaged that we meet at the front of the centre at 10am for a 10.30am start.

Dates and Times

Saturday 19th October 2013
10.30am – 1pm Indoor availability
10.30am – 4pm Outdoor availability

Saturday 29th March 2014
10.30am – 1pm Indoor availability

Saturday 28th June 2014
Times to be confirmed

Venue

London Bridges Walk a Great Success!

Posted on Thu, 25 Apr 2013 14:24 by Paul and Tina Wagnell

Thankyou to everyone who joined us on the London Bridges Walk.

We had a fantastic time, all the kids did amazingly well and the adults too!

This was followed by a great picnic lunch to round off our day.

Mary Jo said, "I was with my Mum and Courtney. We all enjoyed it, it was sunny and quite warm. We went over eight bridges and there was lots of sightseeing because London is so big and we took loads of pictures. There are lots of things to see like London Bridge and the London Eye, even statues of famous people! We raised money by letting all our friends know what we were doing and why we were doing it. I loved the walk and I bet you would too if you had gone because it was lovely spending time with everyone and chatting along the way. I’m really looking forward to going to the British Transplant Games in Sheffield to support my brother and all our friends.”

Together we have raised just over £800, so well done to everyone!

Coaching Spectacular 20th July 2013

Posted on Tue, 26 Mar 2013 13:31 by Matthew Snell

Sports Taster / Coaching for Athletics on Saturday 20th July 2013

Lee Valley Athletics Centre

Lee Valley Leisure Complex
61 Meridian Way
Edmonton
London
N9 0AR

We are planning to hold a sporting spectacular at the above event if your child whether competitor, sibling or recently transplanted would like to have a go at some athletic events on a fantastic indoor arena, then let us know if you are interested so we can see if it is a viable event to prepare and follow through. The cost is £3 per child under 16 and free to adults as they will be supervising, and what we thought would be nice was if we bring our own food and picnic blankets we could find somewhere afterwards for a family picnic.

The centre tends to be busy in the mornings so it is envisaged that we would meet at the centre on Saturday 20th July 2013 for 11.30am and spend a couple of hours in the centre using the facility and equipment working up the child’s appetite for the picnic at 1.30pm.

If you are interested in attending this event please let Matthew Snell know: matthew@evelinavips.org.uk.

Challenge 100

Posted on Tue, 26 Mar 2013 13:21 by Matthew Snell

We know you are doing your bit to raise money for the team but what have you done or what are you about to do to meet the Challenge 100? All ideas, events and information to Tina and Paul Wagnell (Fundraising Co-ordinators) tina@evelinavips.org.uk or paul@evelinavips.org.uk

Bob and Adele Guest have achieved theirs by doing the following:

Putting on a Panto for 10 nights at the Astor Theatre here in Deal. It was a huge success and all the tickets were sold out in the first week they went on sale. The Panto was called "THE WIZARD WHO WAS ODD" very loosely based on the wizard of OZ !! Bob played the part of the Wizard.

Through the ticket sales and programme sales and a DVD of the panto Naddie was presented with a cheque for £350 to the Guy's and St Thomas Charity to help send the VIP's to the Transplant Games. All those who took part in the panto had a great time doing it and I think we will be doing another one next year.
